Picnics are one of my favorite ways to incorporate a group get together in an outside space. Whether you feel the need to get outside, or just to spice up a typical get together.
Pick the right spot.
Look for somewhere scenic and idyllic, lush and grassy, and with plenty of natural shade. Aim to set up under a tree to make sure you can utilize the shade in case it gets too hot, and make sure that there’s plenty of surrounding space for children to run around. And if it’s raining on your intended picnic date? Set up indoors! Picnicking is a state of mind.
Accessorize the space.
Having an all-day picnic party? Hang tapestries, macrame wall hangings or an umbrella to create the perfect scenery.
Thrift Store Haul.
My Vintage Rattan coffee was my most recent Goodwill find for only $6! I love to pick up outdoor accessories from thrift stores all over Sacramento, and bring them on my outdoor adventures. Pillows are way more affordable secondhand, and I feel more comfortable using them outside due to their nature.
Wine & Cheese Board.
My favorite part of any exploration, is what are we eating?! Grab a baguette on your way out of town, bubbly champagne, grapes, cheese, olives and a specialty spread. Calories don’t count when you’re on an adventure 😉
